Paraninfo Universidad de La Laguna

 

 

 

The Paraninfo de la Universidad de La Laguna  is a multipurpose space designed to accommodate both academic events such as lectures and stage shows.

One of the main elements of the Central Building of the ULL, which was begun in the mid-30's of XX century and would not be completed until 1962. Its design was the responsibility of the architects José Enrique Marrero Regalado and Sunday Pisaca, although it was the latter action be crucial that in shaping the final look of the Paraninfo.

Endowed with a privileged voice sound for live, one of their highlights is the pictorial decoration of the cover, designed by Mariano de Cossio, which are represented allegories of the different branches of academic knowledge.

During their working years, went through its stage the most important musicians and actors of regional and national picture, which became the Paraninfo de la Universidad de La Laguna  on one of the reference rooms in Tenerife.

In 2001 the property showing high signs of deterioration due to moisture, which advised the closure and restoration. After several delays, the rehabilitation project signed by the architect Pedro Domínguez-Anadón begin to run in 2007, culminating in late 2009, when it reopens to the public again.




Ex convento de Santo Domingo

 



Giving the square of the same name is found this site. The Church is associated to the Dominican convent annex, founded by Father Mendoza on May 13, 1522. With regard to the Church, the nave and the cover date of the oldest factory in the compound, later extended to the construction of several chapels. Property abroad is the steeple, which forms an angle with the church. Striking inside the murals painted in the twentieth century by Mariano Suárez and Antonio González Cossio. It also preserves important works of jewelry, such as custody Ildefonso Sosa and a collection of paintings by the painter Cristóbal Hernández de Quintana. It is a Cultural Monument status to 1986.

It has an auditorium seating 100 people and a lounge on the second floor of the building with the same capacity.

 

 

 

Hotel Nivaria

 

 


This elegant eighteenth century house, which was restored and transformed into a nice apartment, is an ideal starting point for visiting the city. There are a total of 73 rooms spread over two floors. Guests multiple lounges, a bar and the outdoor parking.

Nivaria has room for up to 76 people in theater.

It has another room, the room with capacity for 50 people.
